Sawai Madhopur : Heavy rains are continuing in Sawai Madhopur district. Due to heavy rains, rivers and streams are overflowing. There is a flood like situation in the low lying areas. Due to heavy inflow of water in Latiya drain, Raj Bagh culvert broke. Due to the breaking of the culvert, the bus standing on the spot got washed away in the drain. Three-four youths standing on the spot also got washed away in the drain. However, the Civil Defense team reached the spot on receiving the information and all the youths were rescued at a short distance from the spot.
Sheet flow on dams:
Due to heavy rains in Sawai Madhopur area, water is seen everywhere. The roads of Sawai Madhopur city have become rivers, the district hospital is flooded. Chambal, Banas, Galwa, Morel rivers of the district are in spate, 16 out of 18 dams are overflowing. Sawai Madhopur Lalsot road is closed due to fast overflow from Surwal dam. There is a fast flow of water on Kushalipura, Bodal, Jaitpur culvert on NH-552, the road is blocked.
Ranthambore Tiger Safari also closed, holiday in schools:
Collector Dr. Khushal Yadav, SP Mamta Gupta are taking stock of the situation of heavy rains. SDM Anil Chaudhary, Municipal Council Commissioner Fateh Singh and other officials are present. The spot was inspected when 4 youths and a bus were swept away at Rajbagh culvert. However, all the youths were rescued safely. Many colonies of the city, Ranthambore Road, Khairda culvert were submerged. Due to heavy rains, Ranthambore Tiger Safari is also closed till further orders. Holiday has been declared in private and government schools of the district.
Main Mora Sagar Dam of Bamanwas overflowed after 19 years:
After 19 years, the main Mora Sagar Dam of Bamanwas in Sawai Madhopur overflowed. The dam with a filling capacity of 18.5 feet overflowed. Mora Sagar Dam is the lifeline of the farmers of the north-east region of subdivision Bamanwas. Today, after heavy rains, the Morsagar Dam overflowed. About 30 thousand bighas of land will get water for irrigation. There is a wave of happiness in 27 villages including Tond, Tundila, Dungarwada, Zahira. This year, a record 1150 mm of rain has occurred in the Bamanwas area. Due to excessive rains, waterlogging in the area has become a cause of trouble.
