Karauli : Heavy rain in the area including Karauli district headquarters till late Wednesday night worsened the situation at the district headquarters. At the same time, the biggest Panchana dam of the district was filled to the brim. Due to which the people of the district got great relief. More than 181 mm i.e. 7 inches of rain was recorded in the Panchana dam area. While water entered the houses due to waterlogging in the low-lying areas. Due to this, the difficulties of the people increased.
Panchana dam is overflowing
After the Panchana dam was filled to the brim, the water resources department has started draining the water into the Gambhir river by opening three gates of the dam. The total filling capacity of the dam is 258.62 meters. In comparison, when the water level of the dam reaches 258.25 meters, water is being drained by opening three gates of the dam. Executive Engineer of Water Resources Department Sushil Kumar Gupta said that the discharge of 3000 cusecs of water from three gates of the dam into the Gambhir river has been started.
Water reached in Gambhir river
After the gates of Karauli’s Panchana dam were opened, water reached the Gambhir river of Katkad. The villagers were delighted as Panchana’s water reached the Katkad river. The villagers enjoyed bathing in the water. The water level in the nearby villages will increase due to the water coming into the river and the thirst of birds and cattle will be quenched.
Crowds begin to gather
After the dam is filled with heavy rains, the view becomes picturesque when the gate is opened. To see this, people have started arriving at these places since morning. A large number of women, men and children are reaching Panchana Dam.
