Dungarpur : The education department is in a state of procrastination. In the current academic session, the diaries of the teachers have been divided after half of the session has passed. Similarly, the cycles which were distributed to the girl students at the beginning of the session will also now be distributed just before the six-monthly examination. On the instructions of the state government, on completion of one year tenure of the government on December 12, bicycles will be given to 1 lakh 25 thousand girl students in the state virtually in a state level function. Six thousand daughters will also be benefited in Dungarpur district. Bicycles will be distributed in nodal schools.

With the change of government, the free cycle distribution scheme started from the year 2007-08 with the aim of promoting the education of girls in remote rural areas and curbing the trend of dropping out of school due to long distance from school. Gifts have also been offered and their color has been changing along with the government. The Congress government colors the cycles black and the BJP government gets them painted saffron as soon as they come to power. This time the girl students will get saffron colored bicycles.
They will not get benefits
Under the scheme, girls who get transport voucher amount every month. They will not get a bicycle. The government gives an additional fare of Rs 20 per day to the girl students who come from a distance of three to five kilometers to the school, depending on their daily attendance.
Government should give budget
Bicycles will be distributed at nodal centres. But, there is no budget provision for taking bicycles from the nodal centers to the respective schools. In such a situation, once again the Boys Fund is sure to be hit due to the transport item.
