Dungarpur : Dungarpur District Collector Ankit Kumar Singh has been honored by President Draupadi Murmu on World Disability Day for the effective implementation of schemes for the disabled. In a function held in New Delhi on behalf of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, the District Collector was honored in the category of best district in the implementation of the schemes of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, UDID and Disability Empowerment.

In the financial year 2024-25, 6 thousand 895 disabled people have been registered under MNREGA in the district, which is the highest in Rajasthan. Under MNREGA, employment has been provided to 5 thousand 271 disabled people so far in the financial year 2024-25. This is highest in Rajasthan. With 76.44 percent, 2.011 lakh man days have been generated and wages of about Rs 4.25 crore have been paid, which is the highest in the state. 118 self-help groups of Rajivika have been formed in Bichhiwada block of the district and 110 self-help groups in Dungarpur block. One thousand one hundred and forty disabled people are associated with a total of 228 self-help groups in these two blocks of the district. An assistance amount of Rs 2 crore 82 lakh has been provided to 94 workers suffering from serious disease like silicosis in the labor sector. At the same time, workers are being given Rs 1 lakh 41 thousand per month as pension. Along with this, special efforts are also being made for door-to-door ration delivery to the disabled people and 100 percent voting of PWD voters. The voting percentage of disabled voters will increase from 71 in the Assembly general elections-2024 to 71 in the Lok Sabha general elections-2024. It became 81 percent. Along with this, the voting percentage of disabled people in the recent Chaurasi Assembly constituency by-election was 87.88 percent, which is the highest among all the by-election assembly seats in the state.

Deputy Director of Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Ashok Sharma said that as per the instructions of the District Collector, from January 19 to February 19, camps were organized in all the 10 blocks of the district to provide UDID cards, roadways bus passes, assistive devices, registration for various schemes to the disabled people. The work was done. For this, a survey was first conducted, in which 4800 disabled people were identified. Out of these, UDID cards were issued to 76 disabled persons and the remaining disabled persons were applied online in the camp itself.
