Dungarpur farmers said- canals were not cleaned properly, demanded cleaning from the department

Dungarpur : Water from Som Kamla Aaban Dam, the biggest dam of the district built in Dungarpur Aspur Panchayat Samiti, has been released for irrigation on 8th November. But it seems difficult for water to reach the tail of the fields. The canals are filled with debris at many places. At many places the canals are broken. Local people say that about seven thousand hectares of land in about 40 villages are irrigated by the BBC canals of Som Kamla Amba. Last year too, due to lack of cleanliness, water could not reach the tail in many villages. This year there has been good inflow of water into the dam. In view of this, the department had organized a meeting under the chairmanship of the District Collector and Divisional Commissioner regarding releasing water in the canals on 8th November.

In which the farmers had talked about releasing water after repairing and cleaning the canals. But in chain number 49 of Katisaur, the lower part of the canal is completely filled with debris. At the same time, in Katisore, Dhora 252 which goes from Main Canal to Dhani Katkeshwar, on which MNREGA workers are working, but it is not possible to have it in the hands of cleaning workers. Even now only a nominal amount of cleaning has been done. The entire soil has been filled on the roadside by the PWD department during road construction. Due to which there is a possibility of water reaching about 500 bighas of land. Due to leakage in the pond near Balai Basti, thousands of liters of water is flowing wastefully in the fields. Due to which water is not reaching the tail and flowing wastefully in the fields, spoiling the fields. The farmers have demanded cleaning of Dhore canals. Get the cleaning done with JCB. If this is so then farmers should take care.
