Dungarpur : Chikhali The second largest hanging bridge of the state is being built in Bedua of Chikhali Gram Panchayat of Dungarpur district. The date and year of completion of its construction work is changing again and again. However, this bridge was to be completed in the year 2020. But in the meantime there was a period of Covid. On the other hand, there was also a budget hurdle. At present, there is doubt over the completion of the bridge work in December due to blockage of the budget worth crores of rupees.
This is construction approval
This work is under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India and Public Works Department, Government of Rajasthan. The total length of the work of high level bridge on Mahi river at Sangameshwar on Chikhali-Anandpuri road is 1.925 kilometers and bridge length is 906 meters. The sanctioned amount is Rs. 99.16 crore from CRF head and Rs. 34.85 crore from SRF. The completion date of this work is 13 December 2020 and the maintenance time period of 24 months is shown on the board at the work site, but even after exceeding the time period, the bridge has not been completed.
More than 90 percent work done
Dungarpur A hanging bridge is being built at a cost of Rs 125 crore in K Bedua village of Chikhali Gram Panchayat of the district. This extradosed bridge will be the second of its kind in Rajasthan which will be supported by cables. Till now, 17 pillars have been completed by joining both the ends of Chikhali and Anandpuri. Wiring work has been started through a foreign company. Till now an amount of Rs 105 crore has been spent on this project. PWD officials say that more than 90 percent of the work has been completed.
Now it may take time till 2025
then The BJP government had announced this hanging bridge in the budget of 2016. This work was to be completed in December 2020. After this the department had said that the work would be completed in September 2023. Then the work will be completed in December 2024. But due to lack of budget, the construction company has given a deadline of March 2025. After the coming of the BJP government, the residents of the area are hopeful of completing the bridge and inaugurating it soon. Work on this project could not be completed for the first three years.
