Dungarpur need of fertilizer after seeds, farmers left helpless

Dungarpur : With the change in weather in the district, the race for farmers has started. Farmers had to race to get the first seeds for sowing Rabi crops. Now after sowing they are racing for fertilizer. Due to not getting fertilizer at concessional rates from the purchasing-selling cooperative society, farmers are forced to buy fertilizer at expensive prices from the market. Farmers start sowing Rabi crops from around the month of October. Within a month of sowing, farmers need to apply urea fertilizer to the crops. On this, he buys urea at discounted prices from the purchase and sale cooperative society. But, this time also due to non-availability of urea fertilizer in the purchase and sale committees, farmers have to buy urea at expensive prices from shops in the market.

there is so much need

Farmers require 21 thousand cuts of urea every year. One bag contains about 45 kg of urea and it is made available to the farmers at Rs 270 per bag. But, till now only 11 thousand bags have been received by the Purchase-Sale Cooperative Society. In such a situation, ten thousand pieces are still required. But, at present the situation is such that not a single bag of fertilizer is available near the cooperative society. Farmers are making rounds on this every day for urea. At the same time, farmers are buying bags from shops worth about three hundred to three hundred and fifty rupees. However, urea is not available at many shops. However, the department is repeatedly presenting claims of adequate fertilizer and seed availability in administrative meetings.
