Dungarpur: Water did not reach the tail for Rabi irrigation, farmers worried.

Dungarpur : Dungarpur Water was released from Som Kamla Amba Dam for irrigation of Rabi crops on November 10, but till now water has not reached many tails. Due to this, there is anger among the farmers of the area. In the western part of Katisaur, in front of Bhairavji temple, farmers have prepared fields for wheat cultivation on about 300 bighas of land. However, due to the dilapidated condition of the minor emanating from the Lapiya main canal, water is not able to reach the tail.

Loss due to dilapidated condition of miner

This minor, which has been dilapidated for the last 10 years, irrigates about 300 bighas of land. Due to leakage in minor, half of the water is wasted midway. Due to this, not only water does not reach the tail, but due to leaked water, crops are getting damaged due to flooding of many fields. Farmers complained that to solve this problem, NREGA workers were deployed to clean the tail, But due to lack of monitoring by the Irrigation Department, the cleaning remained incomplete.

I am trying myself

Distressed farmers are doing their own labor to irrigate their crops and are trying to transport water through other rigs. Kalasua fruit cultivators, including Manoj Meena, Nanuram Meena, Maneng, Dalji, Laxman and Kalji, have demanded fresh repair and construction of the mine.

Bridge broken, department not aware

Water from the Lapiya main canal is discharged into the Umdala pond. The Irrigation Department had earlier constructed a culvert on the drain built for irrigation from Umdla pond. But a year ago, unknown people broke this culvert with JCB. The department is not even aware of this, due to which the farmers are facing additional problems. Irrigation Department Executive Engineer (XEN) Bahadur Singh Rathore said that proposals have been sent to improve the condition of the minor, which have been approved. Construction work will be started after Rabi crop. Will send Assistant Engineer (AEN) to look into this issue immediately.

Farmers fear crop damage

Farmers of the area have demanded immediate action to improve the condition of the miners. They say that if the problem is not resolved soon, it will have a major impact on the Rabi crop, due to which both their hard work and cost will be wasted.
