In such a situation, the contaminated water is not potable even for animals. To keep these reservoirs clean, the former city council had also installed two filter plants. But with time that too has become closed. In such a situation, the level of pollution is also increasing day by day due to dirty water reaching the ponds. According to the information, Geapsagar Lake, Sabela and Suneria Reservoir are the three big reservoirs in the city. The filling of these reservoirs during the rains brings glow on the faces of the city residents, because these are the main sources here. But, the water of these reservoirs has been getting contaminated for some time. Dirty water from drains is going into these reservoirs.
In Gepsagar Lake, dirty water from the industrial area, Hariom Nagar and surrounding colonies is coming into the lake. At the same time, dirty water from Navadera and Vatika is getting mixed in Sabela reservoir. At the same time, dirt is also dumped on the banks of Sabela reservoir. This dirt is going inside the reservoir. Dirty water from Pratapnagar and Rajpur villages comes into Suneria pond. Due to this this water is getting contaminated.
The former board of the council had come up with a solution
To protect the water of the reservoir from contamination, the former city council had built two filter plants worth Rs. 8 lakh each. This plant was installed in Bird Century Park and Suneria Reservoir. The contaminated water coming into the reservoir from this plant was filtered and cleaned and then released into the reservoir again, but with the change of the board, the plant was closed and dirty water started coming into the reservoir again. To make the Gapsagar Lake beautiful as well as clean, the Municipal Council had released fishes in the lake five years ago. After this, no attention was paid to these fish and fishing started taking place in the reservoir at night.
