Kota News Desks, In a major action late on Wednesday evening, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has canceled the recognition of 21 ‘dummy’ schools. Along with this, the higher secondary status of 6 schools has been reduced to secondary. CBSE has taken this decision after the surprise inspection conducted in schools of Rajasthan and Delhi in September, in which many deficiencies were found.
Non attending admission became the reason
CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta said, ‘The practice of dummy i.e. private admission is contrary to the basic objective of school education. This has a negative impact on the basic development of children. To address this issue we have decided to stop dummy schools. Along with this, we have given a clear message to all CBSE affiliated schools that they should not accept dummy or non-attending admission.
5 schools of Kota-Sikar included
Gupta said that these dummy schools were earlier given 30 days time by issuing show cause notices. During this period, the responses received from the schools were thoroughly scrutinized. Only after this, based on the data and videography evidence of surprise inspection, recognition of 21 schools was canceled and 6 schools were downgraded. Of the 21 schools whose recognition has been cancelled, 16 are in Delhi, while 5 are in Kota and Sikar, the coaching centers of Rajasthan.
What is dummy admission practice?
Dummy admission is also called private admission at some places. Mostly children preparing for competitive exams use it. So that they go to school only for exams and the rest of the time they only concentrate on preparing for their competitive exams. Most of the students preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams prefer to take admission in dummy schools. Due to which they do not attend classes and only go for board exams.
Keep an eye on the quota of institutions
Some students also choose dummy schools because their aim is to get the quota available in medical and engineering institutions of some states. For example, candidates who have completed 11th and 12th in Delhi are considered eligible for admission to engineering and medical institutions in the national capital under Delhi state quota.
