Jaipur : Rajasthan government has decided to change the winter vacation to be given in the last week of December. A video of Education Minister Madan Dilawar went viral on Thursday. He says that it is appropriate to give winter vacation only when there is severe cold. There was a stir after the minister’s statement came. The month of December is the peak time in terms of tourism in Rajasthan. During winter vacation, lakhs of tourists come to Rajasthan and plan to visit other states. But if the dates of the holiday are not fixed, this business is likely to suffer a setback. 80 percent of Rajasthan’s annual tourism business is considered to be in the month of December. However, in the Shivira Panchang issued by the Education Department, winter vacation has been retained for the session 2024-25 for the time being. In this, winter vacation has been given from 25 December to 6 January.
Loss of studies, signs of change this time too
Education Minister Madan Dilawar says that this time too, instead of announcing winter holidays on pre-determined dates, it will be announced only when winter arrives. He said that in the government schools of the state, winter holidays are usually given from 25 to 31 December. But even after the winter holidays, schools are closed due to severe cold. This causes loss to the studies of the students. In such a situation, the Education Department has decided that schools will be closed only when there is severe cold in the state, so that the studies of the children are not affected.
It will not be decided which month will have severe cold
It is worth noting that after December 2023, there was severe cold in January. In view of the severe cold, the collectors had to declare a holiday for schools in many districts including Jaipur. Actually, the winter season starts in the state from the month of November itself, which remains in the form of sometimes severe and sometimes less cold till the month of February. In such a situation, it will not be decided at what time the winter vacation will be. However, usually after Makar Sankranti, the outbreak of cold in the state reduces. In view of this, this holiday has been kept in the last week of December in the past.
This will have an impact on tourism
Many cities of Rajasthan are important from tourism point of view. Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Jaisalmer, Chittorgarh, Kumbhalgarh, Pushkar are the main ones. Local tourists also plan short trips to these cities during winter vacations. But if the vacation is not fixed, they will not be able to book rail, air and bus tickets in advance.
