Bhopal 28 November (IANS). Efforts to save the Bharatiya Janata Party organization from the influence of big leaders have intensified in Madhya Pradesh. In the election process of the organization going on in the state, the party is trying to hand over bigger responsibilities to the grassroots workers and not make appointments at the behest of MPs, MLAs and other influential leaders.
For the organization elections in the state, elections have been held at almost 90 percent of the committees including booth presidents, elections are yet to be held at only 10 percent of the places. There are more than 65 thousand booths in the state and out of them the election process has been completed at more than 55 thousand places. In places where elections are pending, the party is preparing to conduct elections soon. Preparations are on to hold elections for Mandal President between 1st to 15th December and for District Presidents between 16th to 31st December.
Party sources say that at present there are about 1100 mandals in the state, which will be reorganized and there will be an increase of 200 mandals. In this way there will be a total of 1300 mandals in the state. This time the age limit of officials has also been increased. Now Mandal President will be able to become Mandal President till the age of 45 years and District President till the age of 60 years.
Party’s National Co-Organization Minister Shiv Prakash has made it clear that the new District President and Mandal President will be made with mutual consent. In these appointments, care will be taken that they are not directly opposed to the MP and MLA nor Appointment will be done on their request. Overall, the party’s emphasis is on ensuring that there should be no conflict among the leaders.
It may be noted that due to the assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra, there has been some delay in the state organization elections. Now the process of organization elections is also being expedited. There are many contenders for various posts within the party and there is enthusiasm among them about the organizational elections.
While on one hand the party is trying to hand over responsibilities to capable and active workers in the organization, on the other hand there is also emphasis on maintaining grassroots activities. Therefore, a close watch is being kept on the elections of the organization. Organization elections are a big challenge for the party because at present the organization of the party is very strong in the state, it is an example for other states of the country and it has also won elections continuously.
Political analysts believe that there are many influential leaders in the state, who have not formed factions directly but are divided into factions. In such a situation, selection of a universally accepted leader is not going to be easy. Many leaders want to establish their influence on the organization, which they were not able to do till now.
