Election announced for the vacant seat of Rajya Sabha in Odisha, Assistant Returning Officer gave information

Bhubaneswar, December 7 (IANS). Elections have been announced for the vacant seat of Rajya Sabha in Odisha. Assistant Returning Officer Bidyadhar Majhi gave this information while talking to IANS.

He told IANS that notification for this election has been issued on December 3, 2024. After the notification, our election process has started. We are taking nomination forms. The last date for filing nominations is December 10, 2024. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on 11 December 2024. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is 13 December 2024.

He told that the date of voting is 20 December 2024. If necessary, polling will be held on 20 December 2024. For this, the poll will be held in room number 54 from 9 am to 4 pm. After this, all the election processes will be completed by 26th December.

The Assistant Returning Officer said that if there is only one candidate, his name will be declared on December 13 only. Otherwise the results will come on the polling day itself. He said, “If the poll is not conducted, it will be declared on the last date of withdrawal of nominations. In such a case, we will release the result after declaring only a single nomination as the winner.”

He told that till now only two candidates have been taken. No one is from any political party in this. In this someone has been taken from news or public.

It is noteworthy that Rajya Sabha is the upper house of the Parliament of India. The Rajya Sabha consists of representatives of the states and union territories and persons nominated by the President of India. The Vice President of India is the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The Rajya Sabha also elects a Deputy Speaker from among its members. The Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha preside over its meetings.
