Jaipur : The collection of fuel surcharge has started once again from the electricity consumers of Rajasthan. Discoms have now stopped the discount being given to consumers consuming more than two hundred units. There are 1.5 lakh consumers among them, in which discounts were being given to eight lakh registered consumers till now. The recently issued bills are being sent to consumers with fuel surcharge added to them. This has increased the additional burden of Rs 100 to Rs 1200. The surcharge has been calculated at 61 paise per unit. After stopping the discount, the state government will save around Rs 200 crore.
The previous Congress government had issued an order in August last year to waive off fuel surcharge in the bills of all such domestic consumers. The provision for this amount has been made on the basis of billing till March 2024 only.
According to sources, the Discoms had asked the government in writing whether to extend this exemption or not. Because, the government would have to bear its burden. But the Energy Department did not give an official reply to this, rather informal instructions were given to stop the exemption. So that, the government is not blamed for anything.
it was received like this
