Jaipur News Desk: The dispute over giving contracts to electrical sub-stations, the main source of electricity supply, has not stopped and now the crisis has deepened on the other 92 GSS of 132 KV capacity. This situation has arisen due to the contracted company completely withdrawing from the operation and maintenance of these GSS. Alarmed by this, the Electricity Transmission Corporation had to immediately send its employees there to handle the work.
At present, appointment orders for junior and assistant engineers along with technical staff have been issued for 15 days. Electricity is being supplied from these GSS in about 50 tehsils. Along with lakhs of residential and commercial connections, there are also a large number of agricultural connection holders. If even a little carelessness is taken in handling GSS, there will be a possibility of power crisis. Meanwhile, the corporation has also started preparations to put these 92 GSS on contract again. To know the real situation in this matter, calls and messages were made to the Chief Engineer and Director of Operations of the Broadcasting Corporation, Suresh Meena, but he did not respond.
Question- Why not a solid backup plan?
The work of giving GSS on contract was done in both Congress and BJP governments. This situation is not new, but questions are being raised due to lack of a solid backup plan. The officers did not realize in the initial phase that the company was running away from its responsibilities. There was panic when the company employees did not arrive at GSS.
it was going on before
Recently, the corporation started the work on handing over 150 sub-stations of 132 KV capacity to private hands for operation-maintenance. About Rs 95 crore will be spent on this. Like every time, shortage of staff was cited behind this. The corporation has sought approval from the government for recruitment. So far 255 have been given on contract to GSS.
