Electricity crisis in Jaisalmer Sodhan, farmers’ hard work wasted

The farmers here spent Rs 30 lakh from their own pockets and laid the power line themselves. He worked hard day and night for the Rabi crop, but his problem was not solved. Even after connecting 33 KV GSS, there is lack of voltage, due to which neither tube wells are running nor irrigation is possible.

125 kilometer long line

According to the villagers, the 125 km long power line from Chharail to Yajlar is the main reason for the voltage problem. Apart from this, the situation is similar in the tube well area located 50 kilometers ahead. Government tube wells have been closed for a long time, due to which water supply has come to a standstill.

Warning of cow crisis and farmers movement

Due to water shortage, large numbers of cows are dying in the Sodhan region. Farmers are drowned in debt. Farmers frustrated with these problems are preparing for the movement. Advocate Lalusingh Sodha says that the situation of electricity and water in the entire district is pathetic. Electricity is the biggest problem in Sodhan area. Government tube wells have been closed for a long time, due to which both farmers and cattle herders are troubled. Cows are dying due to lack of water. There is immediate need of 132 KV and 220 KV GSS in the district, otherwise the situation may worsen. Permanent solution to the power problem in Sodhan area is possible only by installation of new 132 KV GSS and additional 220 KV GSS.
