Nagaur : Electricity department employees are continuously protesting against privatization in the state. Even in Nagaur today, electricity department employees staged a protest and took out a protest rally. This rally started from the Electricity Board office in Manasar and reached the Collectorate premises via Circuit House, Consumer Court. After this, the electricity department personnel submitted a memorandum to the District Collector in the name of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Energy Minister.
AAO of Electricity Department, Jitendra Fidauda said that in Rajasthan, the government is giving contracts of electricity department under different names. Rajasthan Vidyut Joint Employees Struggle Committee is expressing anger against this. This privatization is not in the interests of the employees. Privatization will cause huge loss to the public, because the common man will have to pay a lot of money even for small work.
Due to awarding of contracts for works by the electricity department, employees are now becoming unemployed. The workforce is being weakened by giving on contract. The employees of the Electricity Department want to serve both the department and the public, but the government is trying to stop this by privatizing it. The employees demand that OPS should be implemented and 50 thousand new employees should be recruited in the department.
