Jaipur : Rajasthan government on Wednesday signed an MoU of Rs 1 lakh crore with Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO). Under this, a loan of Rs 20,000 crore per year will be provided to Bhajanlal Government for infrastructure projects like water, irrigation and electricity in the next 5 years. Due to this, on Wednesday, HUDCO handed over a check of Rs 1,577 crore to Rajasthan Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation (RWSSC) for Jal Jeevan Mission.
‘Rajasthan will become a leader in the field of energy’
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the state government is committed to make Rajasthan a leader in the field of energy and strengthen the drinking water and irrigation infrastructure. The state government will ensure that all the necessary financial resources are allocated for this resolve. Addressing the virtual inauguration ceremony of Jaisalmer Solar Power Plant at the Chief Minister’s Office, the CM said, ‘The production of renewable energy from a 400 MW solar power plant in Jaisalmer today by ReNew, a leading company in renewable energy production, is an important step towards making the state self-reliant.’
‘Electricity rates will be reduced for consumers’
The remaining 200 MW will start generating power by October. This will increase the renewable energy capacity of the state. Adding renewable capacity will reduce the cost of electricity, resulting in lower rates for consumers and savings to the government. This plant will enable Rajasthan Discoms to supply power at much lower rates. Significant progress has been made to ensure uninterrupted supply of power and water. Additionally, MoUs have been signed for 28,500 MW renewable energy and 3,325 MW thermal projects in the state with an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore.’
‘There will be an investment of Rs 64,000 crore’
Apart from this, an investment of Rs 10,000 crore has been signed to strengthen the transmission system. A 600 MW solar power purchase agreement has been signed between Rajasthan Energy Development Corporation and SJVN. The CM further said that tariff-based tender process has been started for 8,000 MW solar and 3,200 MW coal-based projects. The establishment of these projects will lead to an investment of Rs 64,000 crore. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state is moving rapidly towards the goal of developed Rajasthan.
