Even after recruitment on 1.91 lakh posts in Bikaner government schools, 100% posts were not filled in 14 years.

Bikaner : Half-yearly examinations are going to start in the schools of Bikaner state from 12th December next month. But 14 thousand posts of third grade teachers are vacant in primary and upper primary schools. Now these posts can be filled in the next academic session only. However, the state government has announced REET eligibility test to fill the vacant posts of tertiary teachers in primary and upper primary schools of the state. But after passing REET, candidates will have to give one more examination to become a teacher. REIT is proposed in February 2025.

After REET, third class teacher recruitment will be conducted by the Staff Selection Board. In fact, due to the state government not conducting REET examination every year, 100 percent posts in schools are not being filled. At the same time, CTET examination is being conducted twice a year by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The state government is not able to conduct REET in Rajasthan even once in two years. ‘When we scrutinized the data of the last 14 years, it came to light that the REET exam is being held once in two to three years. At the same time, the provisions of REIT have also changed several times in the last 14 years. Due to lack of recruitment examination on time, vacant posts are not being filled.

Provision to fill 100% posts of third grade teachers through direct recruitment only.

There are two ways to fill the vacant posts in the Education Department. 50% posts are filled by direct recruitment and 50% posts are filled by promotion. But since the post of third grade teacher is of the first level in the education department, there is a provision for direct recruitment on all these posts. Even after the recruitment examination, the result and appointment process takes 6 to 8 months. In such a situation, even after recruitment on 1.91 lakh posts in the last 14 years, 100 percent posts of grade third teachers have not been filled in any session.

What next: CTET on 14th December, REET proposed in February, notification awaited

CTET exam will be conducted by CBSE on 14th December next month. The last CTET exam was held in July – 2024. Whereas the last REET examination conducted by the state government was in 2022. The next REET is proposed in February – 2025. Earlier REET was to be held in January 2025. But now it will be held in February. The notification of REIT has also not been released yet.
