Greater Noida, 6 December (IANS). The farmers who had been protesting against the Greater Noida Authority for the last few months ended their agitation. The agreement was reached in the meeting of farmers under the leadership of Mahendra Mukhiya, District President of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Non-Political) in the board room late Thursday evening with District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma and Greater Noida Authority’s ACEO Soumya Srivastava and Sunil Kumar Singh.
ADM Atul Kumar, Police Officer Hridesh Kumar, Authority’s SDM Jitendra Gautam and Ramnayan Singh and other officials were present in this meeting.
To resolve the demands of the farmers, there will be a meeting in the authority every Thursday, in which the issues will be resolved on priority basis. Also, policy issues will be placed before the authority board.
The protest was going on at the Greater Noida Authority for the last few months with the demands of reservation in employment and education for the children of farmers in industrial units, educational institutions and commercial establishments, clear policy for division of residential plots, disposal of back lease problems on priority etc.
For the last several months, farmers were continuously protesting outside the Greater Noida Authority. This performance was continuously increasing.
United Kisan Morcha announced its support to the farmers’ protest and after that a continuous struggle started. Continuous demonstrations continued and farmers reached Dalit Prerna Sthal.
After this the farmers were arrested and then a Mahapanchayat was also held. Now the government has decided that a committee will be formed and it will solve the problems of the farmers. Along with this, Greater Noida Authority has also found a solution by calling farmers every Thursday to listen to their problems and solve them.
