Rajsamand : the holy month of Sawan is going on. During this time, lakhs of devotees stand in line for hours in temples to worship their beloved Lord Shiva. But do you know that there is also a temple in Rajasthan, where there is a self-manifested Shivling of Lord Shiva. Which is built inside a 135 feet long cave. There is a lot of crowd here on Mondays. This is in Rajsamand district. Not only on Mondays but every day of the month of Sawan, there is a crowd of devotees here from morning till evening. The name of this 950 years old temple is Gupteshwar Mahadev. To reach the Shivling here, one has to go through a 135 feet long cave which is very narrow.
Maharana Rai Singh had built this temple
It is said that this temple is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Rajasthan. It was built by Maharana Rai Singh. For 611 years, it was known as Baleshwar Mahadev. After this, the name was also changed. Let us tell you that every year two Kaavad Yatras are taken out from this temple, out of which one goes to Rameshwar Mahadev and the other goes to Parshuram Mahadev temple located in Kumbhalgarh.
It feels cold inside this temple even in extreme heat
The priest of the temple says that devotees of Lord Shiva come here to perform Abhishek with milk and water. The most special thing about this temple is that no matter how hot it is, even in the scorching heat, if you walk in the cave leading to this Shivling, it feels as if you have come to a cool place. Many development works are done in the temple for the convenience of the devotees, but this cave is still in its old form.
