Churu : He could not bear the news of his wife’s death in a train accident. Three hours later, the husband also committed suicide by jumping in front of another train. After the tragic incident on Friday, the atmosphere in Ward 23 of the town remained sombre. Santosh Devi (45) died after being hit by a train going from Bikaner to Prayagraj at around 10 am on Friday morning. On receiving the information, her husband Babulal and other family members reached the spot.
The GRP police team reached the spot from Ratangarh. The body was taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, Babulal left from there. Around 1 pm, Babulal committed suicide by jumping in front of a passenger train two kilometers away from the spot. People told that Santosh Devi was mentally ill. She had poor eyesight. It is believed that she was hit by a train while crossing the track ahead of the yard.
After the accident, the Prayagraj train left, but the passenger train coming from Ratangarh was stopped on the track for half an hour. GRP Ratangarh Sub Inspector Bhagwan Singh said that the couple’s son Rajesh Regar reported that his mother was mentally ill for a long time. She left home at around 9 am on Friday. She died after being hit by a train while crossing the railway line. The bodies of the husband and wife were handed over to the family after post-mortem.
