Mumbai, November 12 (IANS). Voting is scheduled to take place in Maharashtra in a single phase on November 20, while the election results will be declared on November 23. Meanwhile, an old video of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is going viral on social media. In which he has narrated his old story related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Devendra Fadnavis told that in the year 2016, Maharashtra was facing the tragedy of severe drought. Then he sought immediate assistance from Prime Minister Modi and he provided immediate assistance without any delay.
This video of Devendra Fadnavis has been shared on the social media platform X named ‘Modi Story’. In the video, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis told that there was a drought in Maharashtra in 2016. In a way, it was a big tragedy. There was a drought on such a large scale after many years. There was no water to drink, farming had ended. There was a lot of outcry among the people. At such a time I went to the Central Government. I requested PM Modi to help but if we have to think long term on this, there are many small irrigation projects in areas like Vidarbha, Marathwada of Maharashtra which are half lying because we do not have money. Still, our government gave a little money to everyone for this. Due to lack of money no project could be completed. If these projects had been completed, we would have been able to fight difficult situations even with less rainfall and everyone’s needs would have been met.
He further told that PM Modi asked us for the list of those projects and he ordered that you prepare a special plan for this. PM Modi asked to prepare plans for about 119 projects in Maharashtra. I told them to give us some grant and the rest as loan. If Maharashtra is a capable state, then give 75 percent loan and 25 percent grant. Then we will be able to do it. In a departure from the norm, the PM immediately approved those plans. Today we have been able to complete more than 80 of these projects. I think that today we could do these projects and if there is a drought today, we will not live in that tragedy. Because we have prepared so much water storage.
While sharing the video from Modi Story, it is written, “In the year 2016, Maharashtra was facing the tragedy of severe drought. At that time, Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis demanded immediate help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi provided immediate assistance to Maharashtra without any delay and also helped in finding a permanent solution to the problem of drought in the state. Narendra Modi’s connection with Maharashtra goes back years and he is always ready to help and develop this state.
