Fake call center busted in Noida, many arrested

Noida, November 21 (IANS). Police has exposed a fake call center operating in Noida Sector 117 of Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that foreign citizens were cheated from here. Under the guise of a call centre, these people used to contact foreign citizens on phone and cheat them of money and cryptocurrency.

Police have arrested 11 people in this case. This includes four women and seven men. The rent of the flat where this fake call was being conducted was Rs 75,000. This call center was being operated so secretly that even the landlord was not aware of it.

Noida DCP Rambadan Singh said that recently a call center has been exposed, which was working in an apartment on rent in Sector 117. This call center was working to cheat foreign citizens, especially American citizens. Call center people used to call people on the pretext of a system malfunction. During this time, when a problem was reported with a person’s computer or system, that person would come into confidence. After this, the person would agree to give money to the swindlers.

He told that these fraudsters often used to demand cryptocurrency, gift vouchers or gold for their fraud. In this way they were successful in extorting money from people by any means. After this, this money was brought to India through Hawala. Thus, this entire network was targeting American citizens all over the world.

Rambadan Singh said, “This entire activity was not only part of an organized fraud, but people were also being trapped in it through technical means and causing huge loss of money to them. The police took action in this matter and have started investigating the matter by seizing the network of the call center, so that more people can be saved from such frauds and strict action can be taken against the criminals.”
