Families who donate organs are also struggling to make ends meet, not getting any benefits from schemes

Jhalawar : The family of Bhuriya Kanjar, a brain-dead organ donor who gave a new life to three people by donating his organs, is forced to struggle for financial help. Bhuriya’s family says that when Bhuriya donated his organs, the district administration team that encouraged them had promised to provide Bhuriya’s family the benefits of several government schemes, but till now they have not received the benefits of any scheme.

The administration did not keep its promise

Sanju Bai, wife of Bhuria Kanjar, a resident of Baman Deoria in Jhalawar district, said that her husband Bhuria Kanjar, who was brain dead, had his organs donated by his family after persuasion by the administration and the medical team. Which was the first organ donation in the district. Sanju Bai said that the organ donation was done on 24 February 2024 in Jhalawar Hospital. Then her family was told that they would be given the benefits of government schemes, but since then the family has not received any help. Even the widow pension has not started. She has three sons and a daughter.

Appeal to the collector

Bhuriya Kanjar’s family reached the District Collector’s Office located at the Mini Secretariat of Jhalawar to appeal for help. Where his family member Narayan Singh told that Bhuriya Kanjar, who donated his organs, was the sole breadwinner. In such a situation, the family needs financial assistance and benefits of government schemes to run the family.

Jhalawar got a different identity due to organ donation

The first organ donation was successfully done in Jhalawar Medical College on 24 February 2024. After which Jhalawar and Jhalawar Medical College got a new identity. A dedicated team in Jhalawar made extraordinary efforts for this organ donation.

3 people of the state got life donation

Kidney, liver and cornea were obtained from a brain dead patient. Out of these, one kidney and liver were allotted to Sawai Mansingh Hospital, Jaipur and one kidney to AIIMS Jodhpur. These organs were transported to Jaipur and Jodhpur through four ambulances. In this way, Bhuria gave life to three people.
