Farah Khan wanted Javed Akhtar to write ‘meaningless songs’

Mumbai, November 26 (IANS). An old video of lyricist Javed Akhtar is going viral on social media, in which he is seen telling that Farah Khan wanted him to write meaningless songs for her film.

In the viral video, Javed told, “Farah Khan once asked him to write a meaningless song for the film ‘Om Shanti Om’.

Akhtar said, “The hero of the film is on a wheelchair and to connect with him a meaningless song had to be written, which had words like ‘disco’. In the viral clip, the lyricist can be heard saying, “If you are asked to write songs without meaning, it is really a challenge for you. If you were to ask someone to stand here and speak for two minutes unnecessarily If it is, then that doesn’t make any sense.”

The brilliant lyricist of the film industry said, “However, in such situations, sometimes you come out wisely or handle it. The film’s director Farah had told me, Javed uncle, I want a song in which no lines It doesn’t make any sense, because the whole situation is ridiculous. That’s when I realized for the first time that writing nonsense is very difficult. I’m glad it was largely meaningless.”

The energetic song ‘Dard-e-Disco’ sung by Sukhwinder Singh is from the film ‘Om Shanti Om’, which released in 2007.

Deepika Padukone, Shreyas Talpade, Kirron Kher and Arjun Rampal were in important roles along with Shahrukh Khan in the romantic film. ‘Om Shanti Om’ was Deepika Padukone’s Bollywood debut. Both Deepika and Shahrukh were in double roles in the film.
