Nagaur : Farmers of Didwana-Kuchaman are now getting benefit in farming from the water provided from sewerage treatment plant. On the instructions of the Collector, Agriculture Department officials visited Mandabasani, Amarpura, Balia, Janakipura, Raghunathpura, Koliya and Godras villages. During this, Joint Director Kalp Verma, Agriculture Officer Ramesh Beniwal and other agriculture supervisors met the farmers and took stock of the condition of their crops. Additionally, samples of treated sewerage water were also taken.
Farmers said that in view of the shortage of water for Rabi crops, the water provided from the sewerage treatment plant is proving to be very beneficial. With this water, the area of crops like Isabgol, wheat, barley and spinach has increased, thereby increasing their income. Farmers expressed happiness and said that if they continue to get clean water like this, they can perform even better in the cultivation of Rabi crops.
Officials also informed the farmers about the grants available on field tilling and sprinkler irrigation systems. Also, he suggested that more farmers can increase the yield of their crops by using water from sewerage treatment plants. On this, the farmers assured that they will make maximum use of sewerage treated water and will also work towards building farm ponds. The farmers who are already taking advantage of this scheme expressed their happiness and described it as an important means of improving their income.
