Jaipur : Under the instructions of the state government to start Fastag facility at all the toll plazas in the state, Fastag facility has been activated at 172 toll plazas out of total 186 toll plazas in the state. Fastag facility will be started at 8 more toll plazas in the coming week. Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, Praveen Gupta said that under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Department Minister, Diya Kumari, the department completed the work of Fastag installation at toll booths of the state in a very short time.
He said that in less than a year, Fastag installation work was completed at 131 toll booths in the state, after which this facility was started. With the introduction of this facility, not only will people’s time be saved, but traffic movement on the routes will also become easier and faster. Through Fastag, drivers will have to pay only the prescribed toll rates, which will prevent illegal toll collection and increase transparency. With the availability of Fastag facility, vehicles will be able to pass through toll booths at a faster speed, which will save fuel and reduce pollution. There will also be a decrease. With this step, the toll collection system on the state roads will become completely digital and transparent, which will also provide a better experience to the road users.
Facilities have been started at this toll
Let us tell you that apart from NHAI, there are 186 other toll plazas operating in Rajasthan. Of these, there are 107 toll plazas on 39 roads operated by RSRDC, out of which Fastag facility has been started at 103 toll plazas. Fastag facility will be started on the remaining 4 in the next week. There are 40 toll plazas on 22 roads operated by Rajasthan State Road Authority (RSHA), out of which this facility is available on 36 toll plazas and Fastag facility will be started on the remaining 4 in the next one week. Under the State BOT operated by the Public Works Department, Fastag facility has been started at 2 out of 8 toll plazas. Apart from this, there are 31 toll plazas on 13 roads operated by Ridcor.
Fastag will increase transparency, increase revenue
The Principal Secretary to the Government said that human resource contracting is currently being implemented in special tenders, where no bidder has been found after the last 2 or 3 bidding processes. Apart from this, the existing toll operators are running these toll plazas on an expansion basis. One problem with these old operators is that they are not showing interest in using the FASTAG system.
Attempt to activate FASTAG system
The purpose of introducing human resource contracting is to solve this problem, so that the FASTAG system can be activated. With this, accurate tracking of vehicle speed can be done and the correct record of the number of vehicles passing through the toll will be available. Once this system is implemented, it can ensure that revenue collection is based on actual traffic, and any inconsistencies caused by manual counting or operator inefficiency can be corrected.
