Fire broke out in the slums of Geeta Colony of Shahdara, the victims cried and said – everything was destroyed.

New Delhi, December 6 (IANS). A fire broke out in the slums in Geeta Colony, Shahdara in the national capital late on Friday night. On receiving information, about 12 fire tenders reached the spot. After a lot of effort the fire could be extinguished.

Majkira, a woman living in a slum, told IANS, “All our belongings were destroyed in the fire. Our clothes, cylinder, chicken chicks all got burnt. We couldn’t save anything. We could not find out how this fire started. I suddenly got scared after seeing the flames. After this I shouted, “Run, run, it’s on fire.” Don’t know how the fire started. Did someone install it or did it happen on its own? Don’t know.”

Kishan Kumar said, “We did not know how the fire broke out. we were sleeping. Then we saw that there was a fire. We started shouting. We told people that look, there is a fire. We called the fire department. But, the firefighters were late in coming, and by then everything was burnt to ashes. There were many warehouses and houses here. Everything has been burnt to ashes. “This fire broke out around 2 o’clock in the night.”

Pooja said, “Our shop, garage, everything was burnt. The fire broke out around 2 o’clock in the night. There were many slums here, all of them were burnt to ashes. We have suffered a lot.”

Meanwhile, Fire Officer Divisional Officer Rajendra Aathwal said, “A call was received in the fire control room at 2:25 pm. In which we were told that the slums caught fire. After receiving the information, 12 vehicles came to the spot. The fire is now out. But, the pulling operation will continue. As soon as we get information about any casualty, we will share it with you.
