Chandigarh, December 8 (IANS). Amidst the farmers’ protest at the Shambhu border, Haryana Police’s DSP Ramkumar appealed to the farmers through the media to maintain peace. He said that there was no firing or use of rubber bullets by the police and the aim of the police was only to maintain peace.

Ramkumar said that the attitude of the police towards the protesting farmers is peaceful. He said that farmers are allowed to protest, but without proper permission, farmers will not be allowed to proceed further. He said that flowers were showered on the farmers, which was a message of peace from the police.

DSP Ramkumar said that the police did not use firing, rubber bullets or other violent measures in any way. We are trying our best to resolve the situation peacefully and no one is harmed. Tear gas and stun fire available with the police have been used, which cause less smoke and less damage. This was just to bring the situation under control, it was not intended to hurt anyone.

He further said that we are requesting the farmer unions of the entire country not to struggle, because we are with you. We don’t want to cause you any harm. There should be no fight between police and farmers. Flowers have been showered on our behalf, which is a symbol of our peace and goodwill. The government is not against the law, you communicate with the government.

Let us tell you that farmers from Punjab-Haryana (Shambhu) border are once again trying to move towards Delhi. In this movement, the farmers who have been protesting at the Shambhu border for more than 8 months since 13 February are now trying to move towards Delhi on foot without tractor-trolley.
