Jodhpur : Train operations are affected due to fog in winter. Many times trains get delayed by hours. To solve this problem, North Western Railways is providing fog safety devices to loco pilots for use in engines. So far, 875 fog safety devices have been given to the four divisions.
Jodhpur division has received 202 devices. The life of this device is five years. A new device is provided upon completion of the period of the previous device. Along with this, the trains which usually run late due to low passenger load or fog are being reviewed, so that these trains can be canceled for a certain period and the train coaches and staff can be used at other places.

Instructions to loco pilots to maintain the speed of trains at 60 to 75 kilometers per hour or as low as their discretion during fog.
The boards showing signal information are being painted and bright strips are being installed.
Instructions to Station Masters on use of Visibility Test Object (VTO) to assist loco pilots when visibility is reduced during fog.
In places where there is a possibility of fracture of tracks during winter, tracks are being examined using state-of-the-art ultrasound machines.
Cold weather patrolling is being done in the areas with fractures in the tracks.
Keeping in view the possibility of fog, 875 fog safety devices have been provided in the entire North Western Railway. In this, 202 devices have been given to Jodhpur division.
