Bhopal, 28 November (IANS). Fog shows its effect with the onset of cold, which hinders the speed of the train. Necessary equipment is being used for hassle-free train operation at Bhopal Railway Station. At the same time, firecrackers have been provided to the trackman.
Actually, fog creates hindrance in train operations, visibility becomes extremely low during fog, making it difficult for the loco pilot to assess the signals and track conditions correctly. Fog safe device has been designed to help the loco pilot in such circumstances. This instrument gives accurate signal information. It also specifically informs the signals installed at different places with warnings, so that the operation of trains can be done safely and uninterrupted.
Fog Safe Device is a GPS based device, which provides information to the loco pilot about signals and other important places on his route. This device displays the distance to the signal and the speed of the train on the screen. Apart from this, it also alerts the loco pilot when the train is close to a signal.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria said that during fog, loco pilots have been instructed to keep the speed of trains at 75 kilometers per hour or as per requirement with fog safe device. Along with this, a bright strip is being installed on the board showing signal information. Apart from this, the station master has been instructed to use Visibility Test Object (VTO). This will inform the loco pilot about passing the station. Apart from this, adequate quantity of firecrackers has been provided by the trackman with instructions to use firecrackers to warn the loco pilot about the presence of signals on the way.
