Jaipur : Rajasthan is famous in the world for tourism and traditional food. While common people are affected due to adulteration in food items, it also has a great impact on tourism. Because if tourists coming from outside do not get good arrangements and quality food, they will not like to come here. In such a situation, the Food and Consumer Department of the state government has started a campaign against adulterators. On the fifth day of this campaign, a large number of firms have been fined.
Action taken under Consumer Care Campaign
On the fifth day of the Consumer Care Campaign being run by the Food and Consumer Affairs Department, action was taken against 73 firms under the Legal Metrology Act. Out of these, 03 firms were found to be giving less measurement and 48 firms were found to be without verification certificates and verified weights and measures. The teams have issued notices against the firms on the spot and imposed a fine of Rs. 1 lakh 73 thousand 500.
The campaign will run till 31 August
Consumer Care Abhiyan will be run regularly till 31st August. The objective of this campaign is to motivate traders to use correct measurement and weighing in the larger interest of consumers as well as to inform consumers about their basic rights and spread consumer education. It is the legal right of the consumer to have the standard, quantity and correct measurement of any kind of service and goods which have been obtained by paying money. In case of violation of these rights, the consumer can complain to the Consumer Affairs Department.
