Ajmer : The Food Safety Team of the Medical Department in Rajasthan has carried out a major operation. The team has raided a factory making adulterated jaggery in Mahavir Colony located in Derathu village in Nasirabad area of Ajmer. About 9 thousand kilograms of jaggery has been seized from here.
Who was operating the fake jaggery factory
Food Safety Officer Ajay Moyal said that the factory was being run by Mukesh Jain, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. During the operation, the team found 360 cartons of jaggery packed in 25 kgs each. Their total weight is around 9000 kgs.
This dangerous chemical was being mixed in jaggery
The team has also recovered safolite, a substance mixed in jaggery. It is a type of chemical. It is used to make jaggery more yellow by mixing it in food items. It also has a bad effect on health. It also poses a risk of damage to the liver and kidneys.
The factory was running without a license
The factory where this jaggery was being made was making jaggery for both humans and animals. This factory neither had any license for operation nor any document of any kind was found. Even the place where jaggery was being made was full of filth all around.
The health department has launched a campaign
Let us tell you that during the festival season, the health department takes action against adulterators by setting up a team. If someone is found adulterating, the department also takes action like cancelling his license.
