Forest department busted wildlife smuggling in Rajasthan, ivory, leopard head recovered

Jodhpur : A day before Ganesh Chaturthi, on Friday evening, the forest department and police exposed the network of smugglers in the city and recovered many items made of ivory as well as exact replicas of animal heads made of leopard skin. The value of the goods recovered from the smugglers is said to be more than Rs 70 lakh. However, the names of the smugglers have not been disclosed yet. In fact, a joint team of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Wildlife Board and Police raided the hideouts of wildlife criminals involved in illegal ivory trade in Ghantaghar and Pawta areas. A large amount of items made of illegal ivory and trophies and horns made of other types of wild animals have been recovered.

Many items made of ivory were recovered from the smugglers. Ivory bracelets, jewelry box, pen stand, spittoon, box for filling hair parting, along with heads and skins of many animals were also recovered from the accused.

The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau traced the smugglers on the Internet. Then contact was established. As soon as the smugglers reached Ummed Park with wildlife material, the team caught them. The smugglers are being questioned about all kinds of possible contact sources. In this regard, a joint team of Assistant Forest Conservator of Forest Division Jodhpur Madan Bora, Regional Forest Officer Anurag Saraswat, Regional Forest Officer Bhagwana Ram of Wildlife Division Jodhpur, Bilada Regional Forest Officer Ram Bishnoi, Machia Regional Forest Officer Balaram Bishnoi took action.
