Jaipur : Gyan Prakash Pilania, former member of Rajya Sabha and Director General of Police of the state, passed away at 8 pm on Sunday night. Due to ill health, he was admitted to a private hospital in Jaipur for a long time. His last rites will be performed on Monday. The last journey will leave from his residence in Bani Park at 11 am.
According to the information, on September 18, when former MP Pilania’s health deteriorated, his family brought him to a private hospital located on Sikar Road for treatment. He remained admitted in the ICU for a few days but after some improvement in his health, he was shifted to a private room but he died in the hospital on Sunday. Pilania was born on 18 February 1932 in Sriganganagar. He joined the Indian Police Service on 7 August 1955 and remained in service till 21 December 1989. In the year 2004, he was elected Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan as a representative of Bharatiya Janata Party and in the year 2008, he was elected Rajya Sabha member for the second time.
