Former Rajasthan minister’s son Rohit Joshi gets no relief from Delhi High Court in rape case, know the matter

Jaipur : Delhi High Court today (September 26) refused to grant any relief to Rohit Joshi, son of former Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi. The case came before Justice Amit Mahajan, in which a 23-year-old woman has alleged that Rohit Joshi raped her several times in Delhi, Jaipur and other places for more than a year.

“Pressure put on woman by filing false case”

Advocate Shiv Mangal Sharma, who appeared on behalf of the woman, said that in such a serious crime, the petition to cancel the FIR and chargesheet is not admissible. He said that these allegations should not be dismissed without hearing the complainant’s side, because this case is related to serious allegations. He also said that while Joshi was in power in Rajasthan, false cases were filed against the woman and she was pressurized to withdraw the complaint.

Rohit Joshi booked for rape and abortion

The FIR was registered on May 9, 2022, at the Sadar Bazar police station, in which Rohit Joshi has been charged under sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by poisoning), 312 (causing miscarriage), 377 (unnatural act) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Rohit Joshi’s lawyer’s argument – the case is related to honey trap

On behalf of Rohit Joshi, his lawyer Hariharan opposed these allegations and said that the relationship between the complainant and Rohit was consensual and these allegations are part of a ‘honey trap’ through which the woman pressured Joshi for marriage. The defense also argued that the complainant was already aware of Rohit’s marital status and she pressured Rohit to divorce his wife and marry her.

Now the next hearing will be on October 25
Despite these arguments, the Delhi High Court did not issue any immediate relief to Rohit Joshi in the matter of quashing the FIR or ordering a stay on the trial. The court issued a notice to the Delhi Police and directed them to file a reply and scheduled the next hearing of the case on October 25, 2024. In the meantime, the trial will continue.
