Muzaffarpur, November 12 (IANS). Police on Tuesday arrested four people from Maniyari police station area of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, disclosing a case of extortion demand of Rs 20 lakh. Weapons and motorcycle have also been recovered from them.
A police officer said that on August 30, Mohammad Sagir, a resident of Baghi Vishanpur village, had lodged an FIR at Maniyari police station alleging that unknown people had called him and threatened him, demanding extortion of Rs 20 lakh. Considering the seriousness of this matter, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Western-2 AC. A special team was formed under the leadership of Giani.
Police arrested four criminals in this case. They have been identified as Syed Niab Ahmed, Mohammad Riaz, Ravindra Kumar and Saif Ali.
Police said that while investigating the incident, Syed Niab Ahmed was first arrested and the mobile phone used in demanding extortion was seized from him. After this, other accused were arrested on his information. The arrested people have admitted their involvement in demanding extortion. Four mobile phones, two motorcycles and a pistol have been recovered from them.
Saif Ali has a criminal history. A criminal case is registered against him in Kathara police station of Vaishali district. Police are investigating the criminal history of other arrested people.
