Biharsharif, 5 December (IANS). Police on Thursday arrested four people from Manpur police station area of Nalanda district of Bihar on charges of cyber fraud. Rs 36.78 lakh, gold and silver jewelery and 15 mobile phones were also recovered from them. A police officer said that the arrested people learned the method of cyber fraud from YouTube and then committed the crime.
Cyber police station raided Damar Bigha village of Manpur police station area and arrested four vicious cyber thugs. The arrested people include Rohit Kumar, Nitish Kumar, Dayanand, resident of Damar Bigha of Manpur police station and Dharmendra Kumar, resident of Shivchak of Parwalpur police station area.
Nalanda Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni said that action was taken on the basis of continuous information. The arrested cyber thugs used to commit cyber fraud by sending links through social sites, pretending to play lottery and getting loans.
He told that lottery draws were said to be held every day and money was asked for online before the prize. Even in the name of getting loan, fraud was done. After the fraud, the websites published on mobile and social sites were closed.
According to the SP, during the search of the houses of the accused, cash, jewellery, mobile phones used in the crime and many other items acquired from cyber crimes were seized. He told that jewelery and other items were purchased with the fraud money. The network of these people was spread in many states.
The Superintendent of Police said that the vicious people used to teach the methods of cyber fraud to innocent youth in the name of providing them employment and also collected commission from them. Rs 36,78,155, 15 mobiles, one laptop, one printer, three SIMs and gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 4 lakh have also been recovered from them.
