Jammu, December 8 (IANS). Four members of the same family died of food poisoning in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Four members of a family, including three minors, died of food poisoning in the run-down Gorla village in Budhal area of Rajouri district, officials said.
He said, “The mother and her daughter have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The entire family fell ill after eating something at their home. Everyone was taken to the hospital, but four died, while the mother and daughter Is undergoing treatment. Doctors have said that the mother is now out of danger.
The deceased included 40-year-old Fazal Hussain, his two daughters Rabia Kausar and Farmana Kausar and his son Raftaar Ahmed.
“The condition of mother Shamima Akhtar is stable, but the other daughter Ruksar is critical,” officials said.
He said that Fazal Hussain, his wife Shamim Akhtar (38), resident of Badhal Gorla village, and their four children were admitted to Rajouri Government Medical College Hospital late on Saturday night due to severe indigestion.
Hussain died during treatment early on Sunday, while his wife and children were referred to Jammu for special treatment.
Three children, Rabia Kausar (15), Farmana Kausar (12) and Raftar Ahmed (4) died in a Jammu hospital. Akhtar and his other daughter Ruksaar (12) are still undergoing treatment.
The entire village is in mourning due to the death of four members of the same family due to food poisoning. There is an atmosphere of fear and panic among the local people.
The villagers have demanded that the exact cause of the fatal food poisoning should be found out and made public so that they remain alert about such food in the area.
Police have registered a case in this incident and started investigation. According to preliminary investigation, no indication of any foul play has been found in this case.
