Jaipur : Before the by-elections in Rajasthan, the BJP high command has changed the state president and state in-charge. Accepting the resignation of state president CP Joshi, the party has appointed Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore (70), close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the new state president. At the same time, MP Radhamohan Das Aggarwal has been made the state in-charge in place of Arun Singh. Madan Rathore, one of the veteran leaders of BJP, started his career as a pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the year 1970. 10 years later, he joined the BJP. After holding many posts in the Pali district unit, he moved to the state unit of BJP.

He became MLA from Sumerpur twice

Madan Rathod has been an MLA from Sumerpur assembly seat of Pali district twice. The special thing is that both the times he defeated Congress leader Bina Kak. He was elected MLA from Sumerpur assembly seat for the first time in the year 2003. After this, he became MLA for the second time in the year 2013. He was also the Deputy Chief Whip from 2015 to 2018 during the rule of Vasundhara Raje.

When BJP did not give ticket to Madan Rathod in the assembly elections in the year 2023, he contested as an independent. However, Rathod later withdrew his nomination. It is said that PM Modi himself called Rathod to withdraw his nomination. Just two and a half months after the assembly elections, the party honored him by declaring him as a Rajya Sabha candidate and he became Rajya Sabha MP unopposed.

Biography of Madan Rathod

Madan Rathore was born on 2 July 1954 in Raipur of Pali district in Rajasthan. He obtained a BSc degree in Mathematics from Bangur College, Pali under Rajasthan University in 1974. But, four years before this, he started his career as a pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. After joining BJP in 1980, he never looked back and kept moving forward on his political journey.
