Jodhpur : Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has advocated giving Rajasthani the status of official language. He said that I will request the Chief Minister to give Rajasthani the status of official language. On Sunday, at the Kavya Kalrav book release and felicitation ceremony in Ram Singh Bhati Memorial Auditorium and after that while talking to journalists, the Union Minister said that Bhojpuri language is recognized in five countries. Rajasthani language is also recognized in Nepal. In Nepal, MPs can take oath in Bhonti, Rajasthani and Nepali, but when MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati stands in the Rajasthan Assembly and takes oath in Rajasthani, then Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg has to stop him. He has to tell him to speak in Hindi. If there is any solution to this, then it has to be declared as the official language.
If we don’t speak Marwari, this language will disappear
Shekhawat said that if Konkan region’s language Konkani, Sindhi has got recognition without any script, then why can’t Rajasthani language get recognition? He said that if we don’t speak Marwari at home, then this language will be extinct. He said that he is fighting for the recognition of Rajasthani language in Delhi. The Union Minister said that if the language gets the status of official language in Rajasthan, then our Rajasthani language will become more prosperous. He also mentioned the dictionary of Rajasthani language written by Padma Shri Sitaram Lalas and said that when Rajnath Singh was the Home Minister of the country, then he had gifted his dictionary to him. Then I had told him that there is no dictionary bigger than Rajasthani language for anyone. Hearing this, Rajnath Singh ji also became amused.
The Official Language Act was passed in 1956
Shekhawat said that the Official Language Act was passed on 26 December 1956, in which Hindi has been given the status of official language of Rajasthan. Shekhawat met the participating poets in the Kavi Deshkaran Indokali Smriti Kavi Sammelan. Chief Whip Jalore MLA Jogeshwar Garg, CD Deval, retired RPS Mohandan Ratanu, Onkar Singh Lakhawat, Professor Zahoor Khan Mehar Hanuman Singh Khangta and many other dignitaries were present.
