Jaipur : A new revelation has come to light in the case of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi giving an interview from jail. After investigation, the Punjab SIT team has given evidence that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was interviewed while in Jaipur Central Jail. Lawrence gave the interview by connecting with a TV channel through Zoom app. The SIT team investigating the case has given evidence to the Rajasthan Police. After this, a case has been registered at Lalkothi police station in Jaipur on Friday night. Actually, Lawrence Bishnoi had given an interview to a TV channel while he was in jail in February 2023. On the orders of the court regarding the investigation of the case, Punjab Police had registered the first FIR in December-2023 and the second in January-2024.
SIT gave evidence to Rajasthan Police
Actually, two interviews of Lawrence were revealed in March 2023. Lawrence was in the custody of Jaipur Police for 21 days at that time. During the hearing of this case, the SIT had said in the Punjab High Court that one of the two interviews would take place from a jail in Rajasthan. Investigation of the second FIR registered in January 2024 revealed that during the interview, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was in Jaipur Central Jail. It was closed in. In August-2024, Punjab-Haryana High Court directed SIT head Prabodh Kumar to give evidence of this to Rajasthan DGP. On the basis of this investigation, a Jaipur case has been registered.
Was brought to Jaipur for questioning in the firing case
Actually, in the Zee Club firing case of Jaipur, Jawahar Circle police station had brought Lawrence Bishnoi to Jaipur on 15 February. Here Lawrence was presented in the court through video conferencing. The court handed him over to police remand for 16 days. Lawrence remained in the custody of Jawahar Circle police station under tight security till March 2. The police had interrogated Lawrence in the case of demanding extortion from businessmen and the G Club firing case. Police had also collected information from Lawrence about Rohit Godara, Goldie Brar and Arvind Bishnoi.
Two interviews telecasted on 14 and 17 March
After being shifted to Bathinda jail, two interviews of Lawrence Bishnoi were broadcast on a private news channel on 14 and 17 March. After this interview came to light, the Punjab Police and the Bathinda Jail Administration were shocked. The Punjab-Haryana High Court had taken suo motu cognizance of the interview aired from the jail of gangster Bishnoi, calling it a serious incident. Making a strong comment, the court said that there is a need to identify the officers who facilitated the interviews and take strict action against them. SIT was formed in March 2023 on the orders of the court. A two-member committee consisting of Director General of Police Special Task Force and ADGP Jail of Punjab Police was formed.
Took responsibility for the murder of Moosewala in the first interview
Lawrence’s first interview was broadcast on March 14. In which Lawrence had confessed to getting Sidhu Moosewala murdered. Lawrence said that Moosewala was getting into gang war instead of singing. Moosewala also had a hand in the murder of his college friend, Akali leader Vicky Middukheda. That’s why he got him killed. According to the SIT report, this is the same interview which he gave during custody.
Gave evidence of calling from the barrack in the second interview
In his second interview, Lawrence had also given evidence of giving the interview from inside the jail. He also showed his barrack and told that he is not allowed to go out, but his mobile phone also comes with him and also has signal. Lawrence said in his interview that the guards of the jail rarely come and go during the night, that is why he Makes a call. Lawrence had also given information about mobiles coming inside. According to Lawrence, mobiles are thrown inside the jail from outside. Sometimes the jail staff even catches them, but most of the times the mobile phone reaches them.
Lawrence prepared the network while in jail
According to the NIA report, Lawrence Bishnoi has just been convicted in 4 cases. Their fight with the enemy gang continues. Had the gang prevailed over them, its members would have joined Lawrence themselves. In this way the network chain keeps growing. The NIA report said that Lawrence’s network had become stronger while inside the jail. While in jail he befriended another gangster. Then their henchmen joined together and strengthened the network outside the jail. Ransom and target killing started from the same network.
Branded clothes, offer to settle abroad, 700 members added to the gang
There are currently more than 700 members in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. NIA has described the process of operation of the gang in its report. It is written in the report that the gang runs on the orders of only two people. First is Lawrence Bishnoi and second is Goldie Brar. It is Lawrence Bishnoi who decides to commit a big crime. To join the gang, boys are lured with branded clothes, money and the opportunity to settle in a foreign country. New members are added through Facebook and Instagram.
