Gaya, 2 December (IANS). What would you call it if the city’s deputy mayor was seen selling vegetables on the roadside? But, a similar scene was seen on Monday in Bihar’s historical and mythological city Gaya, where Deputy Mayor of Gaya Municipal Corporation Chinta Devi was seen selling vegetables.
Deputy Mayor Chinta Devi is selling vegetables on the roadside near Kedarnath Market of the city. People were surprised to see this sight and it remained a topic of discussion throughout the day.
Actually, Chinta Devi took this path in protest against the system of Municipal Corporation. Chinta Devi is hurt by the neglect. He says that he does not get any preference. Nothing is achieved by becoming Deputy Mayor. If I hold the chair and do not get any money, then how will the household expenses be covered? That’s why I am sitting here and selling vegetables.
Angered by the continuous neglect, the Deputy Mayor says that she is not given any information about the meeting. She claimed that she has been selling vegetables for the last several days. He said that he earns and eats his own food and does not take loan from anyone.
He said that his presence was repeatedly ignored, due to which he was forced to sell vegetables in this manner. If despite being the Deputy Mayor he does not get respect then what is the importance of his post.
It is noteworthy that in the last Municipal Corporation elections, Chinta Devi had contested the post of Deputy Mayor, the public made her victorious with a record number of votes. Before this, she was working as a sweeper in Gaya Municipal Corporation for 40 years. People had congratulated him a lot on becoming Deputy Mayor from a sanitation worker. They also thought that maybe life would improve, but everything seems to be going the opposite way.
