Udaipur : Political rhetoric has gained momentum after an accused in the Kanhaiyalal Taylor murder case, which took place in June 2022 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, got bail from the High Court. Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on this issue and alleged that the BJP capitalized on this matter to gain electoral advantage, but did not show any special interest in getting the culprits punished. Commenting on X, former CM Ashok Gehlot wrote – An accused involved in the Kanhaiyalal murder case got bail from the High Court. The BJP used this murder case politically to gain electoral advantage, but the NIA and the BJP government at the Center did not show interest in getting the culprits punished.
The case was handed over to the NIA immediately after this brutal massacre on 28 June 2022, but even after two and a half years, the main culprits have not been punished. Questioning the BJP, Ashok Gehlot said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah took full advantage of this incident in election rallies, but no concrete steps were taken to provide justice. He also alleged that the BJP misrepresented the amount of compensation given to the victim’s family. He said that the BJP spread lies by calling the compensation of Rs 50 lakh as Rs 5 lakh and tried to take political advantage. The former Chief Minister also claimed that the two main accused in the massacre were associated with the BJP and BJP leaders used to call the police station to recommend them. Will the BJP take only political advantage of this incident or will it also try to get justice for the victim’s family.
