Jaipur : Rajasthan politics has created a stir after BJP state president Madan Rathore’s statement on new districts. Madan Rathore had said that there are 6-7 districts in Rajasthan which will be abolished because they were created only for appeasement. In response to this, former Medical Minister of Rajasthan and former MLA of Kekri Raghu Sharma has termed Rathore’s statement as “unfortunate”. He has said that such a decision has never been taken before that after the formation of a district, the discussion of removing it starts. Raghu Sharma also called it a tampering with public sentiment. Raghu Sharma clarified in a press conference that the creation of a district was not a political decision, but it was a step taken keeping in mind development and the needs of the public. He said, “Creating a district is a decision taken above politics so that development gets momentum. It has never happened in Rajasthan that a district is cancelled after being formed.”
“New districts were created on public demand”
He said that 1 lakh 81 thousand people had signed a petition and demanded from the Chief Minister to make Kekri a district. A lot of hard work was done for this and this decision was taken with public support. This was not done just for political gain, but for public interest.
Creating a district is a decision taken above politics so that development can be accelerated. It has never happened in Rajasthan that a district is cancelled after being created – Raghu Sharma, former health minister
He clarified that this matter is not just political but of public interest, and the government should reconsider it before taking any such step. Sharma said, “The ruler changes, not the order.”
Madan Rathore had cited the example of Dudu, Kekri and Sanchore districts and said that these districts were created for appeasement. Raghu Sharma termed this statement as an insult to the public, and said that the BJP government is playing with the sentiments of the public. Raghu Sharma has demanded the government to immediately clarify on this issue what is the plan to remove the new districts. He said that if a decision has been taken to create a district, then it should be retained and political pressure should not be made on it.
