Udaipur : Mother Skandmata is being worshiped across the country on Monday, October 7, on the Panchami of Sharadiya Navratri. On the occasion of Navratri, we are telling you about a Shaktipeeth, where the goddess enshrined in the temple takes bath in fire. This temple of Idana Mata is located in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. Located amidst the wide hills of Aravalli, this temple is considered very important from religious and historical point of view. The fire bath here is so huge that sometimes even the nearby banyan tree gets damaged. Despite this, it had no effect on the idol of the goddess.
Devotees come to offer trident to Mataji after their vow is fulfilled.
There are innumerable tridents placed behind the idol of the Mother Goddess. In fact, every year thousands of devotees from far and wide reach Idana Mata Temple in Udaipur. Devotees come here to offer Trishul after their vows are fulfilled. Here the idol of the goddess takes bath in fire 2-3 times a month. In this fire bath, the clothes, threads etc. offered to the mother are burnt to ashes. Due to this fire bath, the mother’s temple could not be built here.
Know what is the history of the temple?
The temple of Idana Mata, located on the Kurabad-Bambora road at a distance of about 60 kilometers from the city, is very special. The priests here do not know any history of the installation of the idol in this temple, one of the major Shaktipeeths of Mewar. According to popular belief, years ago an ascetic Baba used to perform penance here. Later the local residents and people from nearby villages started coming here. Maa’s court is situated in a completely open square. Local people claim that patients suffering from paralysis come here to the court of Mother Goddess and get cured. When this happens, the family members of the patients make body parts made of silver or wood and offer them here.
Experts could not find the reason for the fire bath
Scientifically, the fire bath of Mata Rani in this temple has not been confirmed yet, nor have any experts been able to find out the reason behind it till date. But according to beliefs, the goddess herself takes bath in fire here. There is a huge crowd of devotees here during both Sharadiya and Chetra Navratri. Apart from this, all the major festivals are celebrated here with great pomp.
