Udaipur : People got freedom from the fear of man-eating leopard in Gogunda village of Udaipur district of Rajasthan on Friday morning. A sharp shooter shot a man-eating leopard in Madar area, killing it on the spot. The leopard had created terror in this tehsil area for the last one month. 10 people had lost their lives here in the leopard attack, after which the forest department had issued orders to shoot the man-eater at sight. Since then a search was going on for him, in which success was achieved this morning. As soon as the information about the shooting of the leopard was received, the forest department team left for Madar.
Confirmation of leopard being a ‘man-eater’ awaited
After reaching the spot, the Forest Department team will investigate the killed leopard. After that it will be confirmed whether the leopard that was killed was a ‘man-eater’ or not. Leopards that hunt humans are identified in many ways. According to officials, the predatory teeth of man-eating leopards either wear out or break. It will be investigated after reaching the spot. The carcass of the leopard from Madar will also be sent to the center for investigation, where its detailed examination can be done.
8 rounds fired, dead body found 5 KM away
To kill the man-eating leopard, a team of shooters was formed from Udaipur Police Line, which included Gogunda police station officer Shaitan Singh, constables Ajay Raj, Giriraj and Devi Singh. This morning they surrounded the leopard from all sides and started firing on it. About 8 rounds were fired, due to which the leopard died after reaching 5 km away from Madar village. When the team was searching for the leopard, they found its dead body on the border of Gogunda tehsil and Badgaon tehsil.
