Jaipur : No new name has been added to the Food Security Scheme, which was started 11 years ago to provide cheap food grains to the poor, for the last two and a half years, while 13 lakh families in the state are in queue to avail the benefits of the scheme. The government had stopped the process by fixing the limit of beneficiaries. In such a situation, the question is that lakhs of people have been taking undue benefits for 11 years, then why have they not been thrown out till now. The number of beneficiaries has been decided according to the 2011 census, while it is natural for new beneficiaries to be added by 2024. Still, the process of adding new names is not starting.
Name deletion process multiple times
The Food and Civil Supplies Department admitted that many people are taking undue advantage. Orders for his removal were issued on 5 November 2015, 29 September 2017 and 11 April 2022.
It is claimed that the list of beneficiaries is audited twice a year, yet the limit has been set due to the fear of ineligible people being included.
What next… E-KYC will open the way
As per the instructions of the Supreme Court, e-KYC of the selected beneficiaries is being done. In such a situation, more ineligible people will come forward, who have been taking advantage of cheap food grains for years.
Data of four wheeler vehicle owners and income tax payers is being collected. Whose ineligible names will be removed by matching them with the data of the beneficiaries selected in the Food Security Scheme.
