Kota : The ambitious plan of linking rivers has got wings in the state budget. By constructing a dam on Brahmani river at Shripura of Rawatbhata at a cost of 5 thousand crores, the water of Brahmani river will be put into Banas river Bisalpur dam. A 53 kilometer long tunnel will be built in the hilly area. Along with this, the surplus water of Rana Pratap Sagar and Jawahar Sagar dam will also be diverted and used. Its beneficiary areas will be Kota, Dholpur and Sawai Madhopur.
The biggest scheme of water self-reliance
Officials of the water supply department said that this project will be the biggest project of water self-reliance along with the river linking project. In this, the waste water of Brahmani river will be used by linking it to Banas river. This water will go to Bisalpur dam. From there, water will be made available to places like Jaipur, Ajmer etc.
That is why a dam will be built on the Brahmani river
A lot of water flows in the Brahmani river during the monsoon. This water flows into the Chambal river through the Jawahar Sagar Dam and Kota Barrage. A project was prepared to take it to Jaipur, Tonk, Ajmer through the Bisalpur Dam by connecting it to the Banas River. More than 70 lakh people will be benefited by this. Its DPR work has been completed. The project cost has been estimated to be Rs 5 thousand crores. It also has a 53 kilometer long hilly area, where a tunnel will have to be built.
The dam will be 6 meters high
The height of the proposed dam will be six meters. No village or land will be submerged in the upstream area of this dam. There will be no filling area of the dam. Water will go to the Banas river through the tunnel. At present, the Water Resources Department is working on the DPR made in 2019. If consensus is reached on this DPR, then the work of the dam will start as soon as the fund is released. A provision of 5 thousand crores has been made in the state government budget for the state’s first diversion dam on the Brahmani river. The total budget is 8 thousand 300 crores, in which the surplus water of the dam on Brahmani and the Rana Pratap Sagar and Jawahar Sagar dams built on the Chambal river will be diverted. A survey was conducted in 2014 for the dam at Shripura-Rawatbhata on the Brahmani river. I was also included in that survey team. The DPR of this scheme to put the water of Brahmani river into the Banas river by building a dam has already been made. The dam will solve the drinking water crisis of Jaipur, Ajmer.
